As such, a meaningful portion of our budget is devoted primarily towards targeted patent acquisition efforts managed by Oto Investments.

Oto Investments is an internal group tasked with acquiring patents deemed to be essential to the various technical domains that Oto Technologies is focused on. We are venture backed and well capitalized. This enables Oto Investments to consider individual patents and patent portfolios of nearly any size. The group’s goal is to invest in IP which complements and completes key technical focus areas developed internally by our research and product development efforts.

Collectively, the Oto Investments team has decades of IP and technology development experience, enabling us to rapidly address market opportunities as they emerge. Swift, targeted execution is essential to produce technology-licensing portfolios, which generate the highest level of returns for the company and its shareholders. We pride ourselves on our proven ability to manage and close IP investment transactions quickly, thoroughly, and with a level of sophistication serving to minimize those nuisances commonly experienced in complicated IP transactions.

Channels

Prospecting
We acquire patents from a wide variety of sources. Every transaction is unique. Most of our activity comes from our internal sourcing from prior art searches, or patent file wrapper reviews, conducted during our own patent development efforts. As we discover related IP to our current focus, the Oto Investment team works with Research and Engineering to acquire the patents for our portfolio.

Brokers
Augmenting our efforts further are the many IP brokers we work with who continually bring us opportunities to consider aligned and in focus with our development efforts. Through regular communication and a thorough vetting process, Oto Investment engages those brokers who are representing technically sound and novel patent portfolios that will withstand rigorous scrutiny.

Partnering
Monetizing intellectual property is a complex and challenging endeavor that often gets overlooked in the course of business. Oto Technologies is interested in partnering with companies that have a significant defensive patent portfolio of “non-core” assets aligned with our technical areas and who desire to extract maximum value with minimal effort. Essential to this strategy is the formation of an agreement which frees the seller from the licensing and management aspects of the portfolio while creating a new stream of royalty revenue from sectors and or competitors not feasible on their own.
