Senior Research Engineer
As a member of a small focused engineering team, the Senior Research Engineer will research current and emerging distributed technologies for mobile media, and communication services. The engineer will architect and prototype systems to prove their feasibility and demonstrate their capabilities and value. The position provides an opportunity to work with leading edge technologies to develop the next generation services for mobile devices. A desire to experiment with innovative approaches to technical problems is essential.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Research new distributed and mobile technologies to identify opportunities for novel capabilities, features, and system implementations.
- Develop new product concepts and accompanying architectures that push the envelope in the mobile space.
- Identify patentable aspects of the product architecture, design, and implementation.
- Prototype new systems and grow to technology which can be licensed.
- Become an expert in the new technologies utilized or developed as part of R&D projects.
Research Analyst
As a Research Analyst you will be responsible for conducting prior-art searching and analysis, file-wrapper analysis, patent-related title searching and assisting Oto’s IP investment team.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Prior-art searching and analysis related to internally generated invention disclosures and potential IP acquisitions.
- Conducting prior-art analysis meetings with inventors.
- File-wrapper analysis.
- Patent application and issued patent title searching.
- Intellectual property acquisition assistance.
Patent Analyst - IT
The Patent Analyst - IT’s main function is to assist the acquisition process of intellectual property. Research, technical and fundamental analysis, internal and external communication, contact management, reporting, and presenting are major aspects of the position.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Read, analyze, and interpret patents and patent applications.
- Research relevant information including technologies, companies, markets, trends.
- Prospect for intellectual property of interest which is aligned with the current portfolio.
- Conduct market and industry research as directed towards objectives in line with company objectives.
- Provide in depth technical analysis of patents and intellectual property with respect to their domain, functionality, and future potential.
- Research, locate, read, and interpret standards bodies technical specifications for varied applications.
- Present qualified acquisition opportunities to company management. Keep company management updated with respect to ongoing acquisition activity.
Patent Analyst - Business
The Patent Analyst - Business’s main function is to assist with the acquisition process of intellectual property and analyze license program potential. The role requires proficiency with research, technical and fundamental analysis, patent valuation, financial analysis, business and revenue modeling, market sizing, reporting, and presenting findings.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Read, analyze, and interpret patents and patent applications.
- Research relevant information including technologies, companies, markets, trends.
- Prospect for intellectual property of interest which is aligned with the current portfolio.
- Locate and verify owners with title to property of interest to the company.
- Conduct market and industry research as directed towards objectives in line with company objectives.
- Create, design, manage, and maintain a library of spreadsheets purposed toward the collection, processing, and modeling of financial data for the purpose of opportunity analysis.
- Present qualified acquisition opportunities to company management.
- Keep company management updated with respect to ongoing acquisition activity.
